Chocolate Dipped Heart Cookies


125 gm unsalted butter, at room temperature
1/2 cup caster sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp vanilla essence
1 2/3 cups plain flour
cooking chocolate, for dipping
coloured sprinkles / sugar strands


  1. In a large bowl, add butter and sugar and beat with an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
  2. Add egg and vanilla essence into this and beat until combined.
  3. Add the flour and mix / beat on low speed until the dough comes together. Then mix using your hand and knead until smooth dough.
  4. Divide the dough into 2 balls and place each dough in a cling film and refrigerate for 15 minutes.
  5. Preheat oven to 180 degree celcius. Line baking sheet with parchment paper/ baking paper.
  6. Roll out the dough between 2 sheets of baking paper / parchment paper using a rolling pin.
  7. Cut out cookies with a heart-shaped cookie cutter and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Bake them in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes, or until lightly golden.
  9. Remove from the oven and allow the cookies to cool completely.
  10. Melt the chocolate in a microwave or by double boiling method.
  11. Dip half of each cooled cookie into melted chocolate.
