Dates and Nuts Sukhiyan

Ingredients:

30-35 soft pitted dates
50 gm cashew nuts, finely chopped
50 gm almonds / badam, finely chopped
1 egg
2 cups plain flour
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cardamom powder
oil for frying

Preparation:

  1. Beat an egg in a bowl using a spoon and keep it aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, add plain flour, baking powder and salt and mix well.
  3. Add beaten egg and enough water and mix well to make a smooth thick batter. Keep it aside.
  4. In another bowl, add soft dates and mix well with hand. Then add chopped cashew nuts, almonds and cardamom powder and mix well with your hand.
  5. Make lemon sized balls of this mixture and keep it aside.

6. Heat oil in a deep pan. Dip each of the balls in the prepared batter and carefully drop into hot oil.
  7. Fry it on medium flame till all sides are golden brown.
8. Remove it from the oil and drain them on a paper towel….Serve with tea..
