Pepper Chicken Kuruma

Ingredients:

1 kg chicken, cleaned
3 medium onions, chopped
2 tomatoes, chopped
1 tbsp garlic, chopped
1 tbsp ginger, chopped
4 green chillies, slit
2 sprig curry leaves
2 tbsp coriander powder
2 tbsp pepper powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
2 cups thin coconut milk
3/4 tsp garam masala
1/2 cup thick coconut milk
4 shallots, sliced
salt to taste
oil, as required

Preparation:

  1. Heat 2-3 tbsp oil in a pan and add chopped garlic, ginger, green chillies and curry leaves and saute well.
  2. Add chopped onions and little salt and saute well till it turns brown.
  3. Reduce the flame and add coriander powder, turmeric powder and pepper powder and mix well till raw smell goes.
  4. Add chopped tomatoes to this and mix well till soft.
  5. Add cleaned chicken pieces and mix well.
  6. Add thin coconut milk and salt , mix well and cook covered till done.
  7. Then add garam masala and mix well.
  8. When the gravy starts to thicken, add thick coconut milk and mix well for 2-3 minutes. Don’t allow it to boil.
  9. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan and add sliced shallots and curry leaves and fry till brown.
  10. Add this to the curry and mix well. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot…
