Mangalore Buns


1 cup plain flour
1 medium sized ripe banana
2 tbsp yogurt/ curd
1 tsp cumin seeds
2 tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
oil for frying


  1. In a large bowl, add banana and sugar and mash it thoroughly without any lumps.
  2. Add yogurt, baking soda, cumin seeds and salt and mix well.
  3. Add plain flour to this and knead to a soft dough. Let it rest for at least 4 hours.
  4. Then knead it again and make equal sized balls out of this dough and roll each dough in a floured surface into thick rounds using a rolling pin.
  5. Heat oil in a pan and deep fry them in the hot oil till they are puffed and golden brown on both sides at medium flame.
  6. Drain them on a paper towel and serve hot…
