Blueberry Lemon Poppy Seed Bread / Loaf


1 1/2 cup plain flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp lemon zest
1/2 cup butter, at room temperature
3/4 cup sugar
2 large eggs
1/2 cup milk
1 tbsp poppy seeds
1 tsp vanilla essence
1 cup blueberries


  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degree celcius. Grease a loaf pan with butter or spray with baking spray ( or line with baking paper).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together plain flour, baking powder, salt and lemon zest and keep it aside.
  3. In another large bowl, add butter and sugar and beat well until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs , one at a time and beat until well combined. Then add milk, poppy seeds and vanilla essence and beat at medium speed until combined.
  5. Gradually add in the flour mixture and beat until well combined,
  6. Now gently fold the blueberries into the batter with a spatula.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake in the preheated oven for about 50-60 minutes or until the toothpick inserted in the centre comes out clean.
  8. Remove from the oven and cool for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely… Then cut into slices and serve…
