Ivygourd / Kovakka Chammanthi


5-6 kovakka / ivygourd, chopped
1 1/4 – 1 1/2 cup grated coconut
small piece ginger
2 green chillies
4-5 curry leaves
3 shallots
5-6 raw mango pieces, peeled
salt to taste


  1. In a blender, add ginger, green chillies, shallots, kovakka pieces, mango pieces , curry leaves and crush together adding salt.
  2. Add grated coconut to this and blend again adding about 1 tbsp of water.
  3. Transfer into a bowl and serve with rice….
  • You can use gooseberry, tamarind etc instead of mango…
