Kakka Irachi / Clams Tawa Roast


250 gm clams/ kakka irachi/ elambakka
1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
2 medium onions, finely chopped
2 sprig curry leaves
2 tbsp coconut slices
3/4 tsp turmeric powder
1 1/2 tsp chilli powder
1/2 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp pepper powder
1/2 tsp garam masala
salt to taste
1/2 tsp lemon juice
3 tbsp coconut oil


  1. Clean the clams and cook it adding 1/4 tsp turmeric powder and salt adding enough water till cooked and keep it aside.
  2. Heat 2 tbsp coconut oil in a pan / tawa and add coconut slices and saute well till brown.
  3. Add curry leaves, ginger-garlic paste and chopped onion and saute well.
  4. Add 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder, 1/4 tsp garam masala and pepper powder and mix well.
  5. Add cooked clams and 1 tbsp coconut oil , mix well and cook at low flame for 5-7 minutes, stirring until they turn brown.
  6. Adjust salt and add lemon juice and 1/4 tsp garam masala and mix well…Remove from flame and serve hot..
