Ingredients:
1/2 kg chicken, cut into pieces
1 1/2 cup vellarikka/ yellow cucumber
2 onions, sliced
1 tbsp crushed ginger
1 tbsp crushed garlic
3 green chillies, slit
2 tomatoes , chopped
1 tbsp coriander powder
2 tbsp chilli powder
1 tsp pepper powder
1/2 tsp garam masala
1 tsp turmeric powder
salt to taste
2 sprigs curry leaves
1/2 tsp fennel seeds
1 cinnamon piece
2 cloves
2 cardamoms
4 tbsp oil
Preparation:
- Heat oil in a clay pot / pan and add fennel seeds, cinnamon, cloves and cardamoms.
- Add sliced onions and saute well adding salt.
- Add crushed garlic, ginger, green chillies and chopped tomatoes and saute well.
- Add coriander powder, chilli powder, turmeric powder, pepper powder and garam masala and saute well till raw smell goes.
- Add cleaned chicken pieces and vellarikka pieces and mix well. Adjust the salt.
- Add about 2 cups of water and cook covered till done at medium flame, stirring in between.
- Switch off the flame and add curry leaves and keep it covered for 5 minutes.
- Serve with rice, pathiri, ghee rice, neer dosa etc…
