Cherupayar Nendrapazham Ghee Roast / Green Gram - Banana Ghee Roast

Ingredients:
1/3 cup green gram / cherupayar
2 ripe bananas / nendrapazham, chopped into cubes
100-120 gm jaggery
1/2 cup grated coconut
10-12 cashew nuts
10 raisins
1/4 tsp cardamom powder
1/4 tsp cumin powder
1 tsp sesame seeds
2 tbsp ghee
1/2 tsp salt
Preparation:
- Wash and soak green gram in water for 3 hours and pressure cook it adding little salt and enough water. Drain the excess water and keep it aside. ( Don’t overcook ).
- Heat ghee in a pan and add cashew nuts and raisins and saute.
- Add chopped bananas and saute till golden brown. Keep it aside.
- Melt jaggery adding 1/4 cup of water in a pan , strain it and keep it aside..
- Heat a pan and add the melted jaggery and grated coconut and mix well for few minutes.
- Add cardamom powder, cumin powder and sesame seeds and mix well.
- Add cooked green gram and mix it well and cook at low-medium flame until all the water evaporates.
- Then add banana mixture and mix well at low flame. Switch off the flame and serve...
