Kadal Kootu ( Mixed Seafood Roast )

Ingredients:

3 crabs, cut into pieces

8-10 prawns, cleaned

1/2 cup squid, cut into round pieces

8-10 mussels, cleaned

12-15 big clams, cleaned

1 big onion, sliced

3 green chillies, slit

2 tsp ginger-garlic paste

2 sprig curry leaves

1 big tomato, grind to a paste

1 tsp turmeric powder

2 tbsp kashmiri chilli powder

2 tsp coriander powder

1 tsp pepper powder

1 tsp garam masala

1 tsp fennel seeds

1/2 tsp fenugreek seeds

salt to taste

3 tbsp coconut oil

Preparation:

  1. Heat 2 tbsp coconut oil in a manchatti / clay pot and add fennel seeds and fenugreek seeds and fry.
  2. Add sliced onion and salt and saute well.
  3. Add slit green chillies, ginger-garlic paste and curry leaves and saute well.
  4. Add tomato paste to this and saute well.
  5. Add turmeric powder, kashmiri chilli powder, coriander powder, pepper powder and garam masala and mix well.
  6. Add water as required and mix well.
  7. Then add cleaned crabs, prawns, squid pieces, mussels and clams, mix well and cook covered at medium flame till cooked and well coated with masala.
  8. Open the lid and mix well till all the water dries. Add 1 tbsp coconut oil and few curry leaves and mix well.
  9. Switch off the flame and serve hot..
