Nadan Chemmeen Fry / Prawns Fry


1/2 kg prawns / chemmeen (I used small prawns)
1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
1 1/2 tbsp chilli powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
salt to taste
2 sprig curry leaves
2 green chillies, chopped
3-4 tbsp coconut oil


  1. Clean the prawns and marinate it with ginger-garlic paste, chilli powder, turmeric powder, few chopped curry leaves , salt and 3-4 tbsp of water. Keep it covered for 20-30 minutes.
  2. Heat coconut oil in a cast iron pan and add few curry leaves. Add chopped green chillies and saute.
  3. Then add marinated prawns and mix well. Add 2-3 tbsp of water in the prawn marinated bowl and add this to the pan.
  4. Mix well and then spread the prawns in the pan and cook covered at medium – low flame for 7-10 minutes till prawns are cooked well.
  5. Then open the pan and mix well at high flame for 2-3 minutes till dry. Switch off the flame and serve hot…
