Habbat Al Hamra / Custard Asario Seed Drink


3 – 4 tbsp habb al hamra / asario seeds
1/2 cup water
4 cup milk
4 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp custard powder
a pinch of salt
1/4 tsp cardamom powder
a pinch of saffron


  1. Soak the asario seeds in the water for 30 minutes.
  2. In a pan, combine the milk, sugar, salt, cardamom powder, saffron and custard powder and keep it on low flame, stirring occasionally.
  3. Once the milk starts getting heated, add the soaked asario seeds and keep mixing, till it nicely mixes into the drink.
  4. Cook for a few minutes till the mixture becomes really hot.
  5. Switch off the flame and serve hot..
