Gobi Pakoda / Cauliflower Pakoda

Ingredients:

1 medium cauliflower, cut into florets

1 cup gram flour

1/2 cup rice flour

1 small onion, chopped

1 green chilli, chopped

1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste

2 tbsp coriander leaves, chopped

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

1 tbsp chilli powder

1 tsp garam masala

1 tsp cumin powder

1/2 tsp asafoetida

1/4 tsp baking soda

salt to taste

oil, for frying

Preparation:

  1. Boil water in a pan adding little salt and switch off the flame. Add the cauliflower florets into this hot water and keep for 10 minutes and then drain the water.
  2. In a bowl, add gram flour, rice flour, chopped onion, green chilli, ginger-garlic paste, coriander leaves, turmeric powder, chilli powder, garam masala, cumin powder, asafoetida and salt and mix well.
  3. Add water as required and mix well to a thick batter. Add baking soda into this and mix well.
  4. Add drained cauliflower florets into this and mix well.
  5. Heat oil in a pan and fry the marinated cauliflower in 2-3 batches over medium flame until brown and crispy.
