Ingredients:
1/2 of medium bread fruit/ kadachakka
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
7-8 shallots, crushed
2 garlic cloves, crushed
1 sprig curry leaves
1 1/2 – 2 tsp red chilli flakes / crushed red chillies ( as required)
1/4 tsp pepper powder
salt to taste
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
2 tbsp coconut oil
Preparation:
- Peel the bread fruit and slice them into thin pieces and keep inside the water.
- In a pan, add sliced bread fruit, turmeric powder and salt and cook covered adding enough water till it becomes soft. Do not overcook.
- Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds.
- Add crushed shallots, garlic and curry leaves and saute well till the raw smell goes.
- Add chilli flakes and pepper powder and mix well at low flame.
- Then add the cooked bread fruit and mix well for 2-3 minutes. Adjust the salt.
