Balloon Bread / Fried Bread


1 1/2 cup plain flour
1/4 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp sugar
1 1/2 tsp instant yeast
150 ml lukewarm milk
1 tbsp oil
1/2 cup milk
1 cup sesame seed
oil, for frying


  1. In a bowl, add plain flour and salt and mix well and keep it aside.
  2. In another large bowl, add lukewarm milk, yeast and sugar and mix well.
  3. Add the flour and 1 tbsp oil into this and mix until everything comes together. Then knead to make a dough.
  4. Transfer the dough to a work surface and knead well for 5 minutes to a soft dough.
  5. Grease the bowl with little oil and place the dough and apply some oil and keep it covered for 60-90 minutes.
  6. After 90 minutes, punch the dough to release the air. Shape the dough into a log and then divide equally and shape into balls.
  7. Take milk in a bowl and sesame seeds in a plate.
  8. Flatten the dough balls lightly and dip in the milk and coat with sesame seeds.
  9. Gently roll out to thin sheets and cut into four.
  10. Transfer into a baking tray lined with parchment paper and cover and let it rest for 10 minutes.
  11. Heat oil in a pan on medium flame and fry them in batches until golden brown.
  12. Remove from the oil and drain them on paper towels… Serve hot…
