Raw Banana / Pachakaya Peera Pattichathu

Ingredients:
1 big raw plantain / raw banana / kaya / pachakaya
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 cup grated coconut
3 shallots
1/2 tsp chilli powder
2 green chillies, slit
1 gambooge / kudampuli, soaked in warm water for 10 minutes
2 sprig curry leaves
salt to taste
2 tsp coconut oil
Preparation:
- Peel and slice the raw plantain lengthwise and put them in a bowl mixed with 2 cups of water and turmeric powder. Keep it aside for 10 minutes , then drain the water and keep it aside.
- In a blender, crush together grated coconut and shallots and keep it aside.
- In a manchatty/ pan, add the plantain pieces, crushed coconut , chilli powder, slit green chillies, kudampuli cut into pieces, curry leaves and salt and mix well.
- Switch on the flame and add 3/4 cup of water and mix well.
- When it starts to boil, cover and cook on medium-low flame stirring in between, until plantain is cooked and almost all water has dried up.
- Add a few curry leaves and coconut oil and mix well.
- Switch off the flame and keep it covered for 5 minutes. Serve with rice…
