Gooseberry / Nellikka Ozhichu Curry

Ingredients:

6 big gooseberry / nellikka
small piece ginger
3 green chillies
1/4 cup yogurt / curd
2- 2 1/2 cups water
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp mustard seeds
1/4 tsp fenugreek seeds
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
2 dry red chillies
1 sprig curry leaves
salt to taste
1 1/2 tbsp coconut oil

Preparation:

  1. Remove the seeds of gooseberries and cut into pieces.
  2. Add gooseberry , ginger and green chillies into a blender and grind together to a paste and keep it aside.
  3. In a bowl, add yogurt and beat well using a whisk. Then add about 2- 2 1/2 cups of water and mix well and keep it aside.
  4. Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds. Add fenugreek seeds, cumin seeds, dry red chillies and curry leaves and saute.
  5. Add gooseberry paste into this and saute well till raw smell goes.
  6. Add turmeric powder and mix well.
  7. Then add yogurt mixture and enough salt and mix well.
