Ingredients:


15-18 vendakka / okra

3/4 -1 cup peanuts / ground nuts / kappalandi

2 big garlic cloves

1 cup grated coconut

1/2 tsp cumin seeds

1 onion, chopped

1-2 green chillies, chopped

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

1 tsp kashmiri chilli powder

1 tbsp urad dal

1 tbsp chana dal

1 tsp mustard seeds

3 dry red chillies

1 sprig curry leaves

salt to taste

2 tbsp coconut oil


Preparation:


  1. Wash and chop okra into round pieces.
  2. Grind together grated coconut, peanuts, garlic and cumin seeds into a coarse mixture and keep it aside.
  3. Heat coconut oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds.
  4. Add urad dal, chana dal, dry red chillies and curry leaves and saute.
  5. Add chopped onion, green chilli, okra, turmeric powder and salt and saute well till cooked.
  6. Add chilli powder into this and mix well.
  7. Then add coconut mixture and cook covered at low flame for 3-4 minutes.
  8. Open the lid and mix well and saute until it is dry. Adjust the salt and switch off the flame.
