Beef Chilli Fry

Ingredients:

1/2 kg beef, cut into strips

1/2 tsp + 1/4 tsp turmeric powder

2 1/2 tbsp kashmiri chilli powder

1 1/2 tbsp cornflour

1 tbsp rice flour

1 1/2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste

1 1/2 tbsp + 1 tsp chilli flakes

1/2 tbsp fennel seeds, slightly crushed

1/2 tsp garam masala

1/4-1/2 tsp pepper powder

2 tbsp lemon juice

salt to taste

3 sprig curry leaves

4 green chillies, slit

1 tsp + 2 tbsp coconut oil

oil, for frying

2 garlic cloves, sliced

4 shallots

thinly sliced pappadam, fried

Preparation:

  1. In a pressure cooker, add cleaned beef strips, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder and salt and mix well. Add 2-3 tbsp water and cook for 3 whistles at high flame.
  2. In a bowl, add kashmiri chilli powder, cornflour, rice flour, ginger-garlic paste, 1 1/2 tbsp chilli flakes, crushed fennel seeds, 1/4 tsp turmeric powder, garam masala, pepper powder, salt, lemon juice, 1 tsp coconut oil and 2 tbsp cooked beef stock and mix well.
  3. Add the cooked beef strips into this and marinate well and keep it aside for 1/2 an hour.
  4. Heat oil in a pan and fry them at medium flame in batches until browned and crispy.
  5. Then add curry leaves and slit green chillies and fry and remove it from the oil.
  6. Heat 2 tbsp coconut oil in a pan and add sliced garlic and shallots and saute well.
  7. Add curry leaves and 1 tsp chilli flakes and saute.
  8. Add the fried beef, green chillies and curry leaves to this and mix well for 1-2 minutes. Switch off the flame.
  9. Garnish with fried pappadam strips and serve hot…
