Bitter Gourd / Pavakka Moru Curry

Ingredients:

1 pavakka / bitter gourd

1 cup yogurt, beaten

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

2 green chillies, chopped

2 sprig curry leaves

1 tsp mustard seeds

2 dry red chillies

3 shallots, sliced

1/4 tsp kashmiri chilli powder

salt to taste

oil, as required

Preparation:

  1. Cut bitter gourd into thin round slices.
  2. Heat 2-3 tbsp coconut oil in a pan and add curry leaves, bitter gourd slices and salt and mix well.
  3. Add turmeric powder and green chillies and fry till golden.
  4. Switch off the flame and add beaten yogurt and mix well.
  5. Heat 1 tbsp coconut oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds.
  6. Add shallots, dry red chillies and curry leaves and saute well till brown and add 1/4 tsp kashmiri chilli powder and mix well.
