Bread Fruit / Kadachakka Masala Thoran

Ingredients:
1 bread fruit / kadachakka / sheema chakka
1 onion, chopped
3 tbsp coconut pieces
1 tsp ginger, crushed
1 tsp garlic, crushed
1 sprig curry leaves
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 1/2 tsp chilli powder
1 tsp coriander powder
1/4 tsp garam masala
1/2 tsp fennel powder
3/4 cup grated coconut
salt to taste
2 dry red chillies
1 tsp mustard seeds
2 tbsp oil
Preparation:
- Peel the bread fruit and chop them into small pieces and keep inside the water.
- Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds and add dry red chillies.
- Add chopped onion, coconut pieces, crushed garlic, ginger and curry leaves and saute well till raw smell goes at medium flame.
- Reduce the flame to low and add turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala and fennel powder and saute for a minute.
- Add grated coconut into this and mix well.
- Add chopped bread fruit and salt and mix well.
- Add about 1/2 cup of water and mix well and cook covered on low flame, stirring in between.
- Adjust the salt and cook until it is dry...Remove from the flame and serve hot with rice...
