Ingredients:
1 medium broccoli
1/4 cup black eyed beans / vellapayar
3/4 cup grated coconut
3 shallots
3 green chillies
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
salt to taste
2 dry red chillies
1 sprig curry leaves
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tbsp coconut oil
Preparation:
- Soak the black eyed beans in water and pressure cook it adding enough water and salt. Drain the water and keep it aside.
- Wash and grate the broccoli and keep it aside.
- Crush together the grated coconut, shallots, green chillies, turmeric powder and cumin seeds.
- Add this crushed mixture, few curry leaves and salt to the grated broccoli and mix well.
- Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds and add dry red chillies.
- Add broccoli mix and cook covered for 5 minutes at low-medium flame, stirring occasionally
- Then add cooked black eyed beans, mix well and cook covered for 2-3 minutes on low flame.
