Broccoli Pakoda

Ingredients:

1 broccoli, cut into florets

small piece ginger

3 garlic cloves

2 green chillies

1 sprig curry leaves

2 tbsp coriander leaves

1/2 cup gram flour

1 tbsp rice flour

3/4 tsp chilli powder

1/4 tsp turmeric powder

1/4 tsp garam masala

1/4 tsp asafoetida

salt to taste

oil, for frying

Preparation:

  1. Boil water in a pan adding a pinch of turmeric powder and little salt. Add broccoli florets in this hot water for 2-3 minutes. Drain the water and keep it aside.
  2. Crush together ginger, garlic, green chillies, curry leaves and coriander leaves.
  3. In a bowl, add crushed mixture, gram flour, rice flour, chilli powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, asafoetida and salt and mix well.
  4. Add water as required and prepare a thick batter. Add the broccoli florets into this and mix well.
  5. Heat oil in a pan and fry the marinated broccoli in 2-3 batches over medium flame until brown and crispy.
