Ingredients:


5 cups chakka / raw jackfruit, sliced

1 cup chakkakuru / jackfruit seeds

1 cup clams / kakka irachi, cleaned

1/2 - 3/4 tsp chilli powder

1/2 tsp + 1/2 tsp turmeric powder

1 cup grated coconut

3 garlic cloves

3 green chillies

1 tsp cumin seeds

salt to taste

1 tsp mustard seeds

3 dry red chillies

2 sprig curry leaves

1 tbsp coconut oil


Preparation:


  1. In a pan, add sliced raw jackfruit, jackfruit seeds, clams, chilli powder, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder and salt and cook it covered adding 1 cup of water till done.
  2. Grind grated coconut, garlic cloves, green chillies, cumin seeds and 1/2 tsp turmeric powder together to a coarse mixture adding little water.
  3. Add this mixture to the cooked jackfruit and cook covered at low flame for 5 minutes.
  4. Adjust the salt and add curry leaves and mix well. Open the lid and then cook for 3-4 minutes.
  5. Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds. Add dry red chillies and curry leaves and pour this over the puzhukku and mix well. Serve with rice or kanji...
