Chakkakuru Muringakka Aviyal / Jackfruit Seeds - Drumstick Aviyal

Ingredients:
15 jackfruit seeds / chakkakuru, peeled and sliced
4-5 drumsticks / muringakka
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
5 green chillies
3/4 cup grated coconut
3 shallots
1 garlic clove
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
2-3 tbsp yogurt / curd
1 sprig curry leaves
1 tbsp coconut oil
salt to taste
Preparation:
- Cut the drumsticks into 2 inch long pieces.
- Coarsely grind grated coconut, cumin seeds, 1-2 green chillies, garlic and shallots together and keep it aside.
- In a clay pot / pan, add sliced jackfruit seeds, turmeric powder, salt and enough water and cook till half done.
- Add the drumstick pieces and 2-3 slit green chillies into this pan. Add little more water if required and cook covered till the vegetables are well cooked and water is mostly evaporated.
- Now add the ground coconut mixture and cook for 2-3 minutes in medium flame till the raw taste of coconut mixture is gone.
- Then add the yogurt and mix well and cook it for 2 minutes in low flame. Adjust the salt and switch off the flame.
- Add coconut oil and curry leaves and keep it covered for 10 minutes and mix gently...Serve with rice....
