Ingredients:

1/2 kg chicken, cut into pieces

1 big raw banana / kaya , peeled and cubed

2 medium onions, sliced

1 tbsp ginger paste

1 1/2 tbsp garlic paste

2 green chillies, chopped

1 medium tomato, chopped

1 1/2 tsp chilli powder

2 tsp coriander powder

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

1/2 tsp pepper powder

3/4 tsp garam masala

3/4 cup thick coconut milk

salt to taste

4 shallots, thinly sliced

2 sprigs curry leaves

3 tbsp oil

Preparation:

  1. Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan and add sliced onions and little salt and saute well.
  2. Add ginger paste, garlic paste, chopped green chillies and curry leaves and saute well.
  3. Add chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, pepper powder and garam masala and mix well.
  4. Add chopped tomato and mix well and cook it covered for 2 minutes till soft.
  5. Add cleaned chicken pieces and salt and mix well. Cover and cook for about 10 minutes stirring occasionally.
  6. Add 1/2 cup of water to this and mix well. Adjust the salt and cook it covered until chicken is cooked.
  7. Then add cubed raw banana pieces and mix well. Add more water if required and cover and cook until the raw banana is done.
  8. Add thick coconut milk and mix well and cook for few minutes at low flame. When it starts to boil, switch off the flame.
  9. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan and fry shallots and curry leaves until the shallots are transparent. 
  10. Add this into the curry and mix well. Serve hot....
