Ingredients:
1/2 kg chicken, cut into pieces
1 big raw banana / kaya , peeled and cubed
2 medium onions, sliced
1 tbsp ginger paste
1 1/2 tbsp garlic paste
2 green chillies, chopped
1 medium tomato, chopped
1 1/2 tsp chilli powder
2 tsp coriander powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp pepper powder
3/4 tsp garam masala
3/4 cup thick coconut milk
salt to taste
4 shallots, thinly sliced
2 sprigs curry leaves
3 tbsp oil
Preparation:
- Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan and add sliced onions and little salt and saute well.
- Add ginger paste, garlic paste, chopped green chillies and curry leaves and saute well.
- Add chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, pepper powder and garam masala and mix well.
- Add chopped tomato and mix well and cook it covered for 2 minutes till soft.
- Add cleaned chicken pieces and salt and mix well. Cover and cook for about 10 minutes stirring occasionally.
- Add 1/2 cup of water to this and mix well. Adjust the salt and cook it covered until chicken is cooked.
- Then add cubed raw banana pieces and mix well. Add more water if required and cover and cook until the raw banana is done.
- Add thick coconut milk and mix well and cook for few minutes at low flame. When it starts to boil, switch off the flame.
- Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan and fry shallots and curry leaves until the shallots are transparent.
- Add this into the curry and mix well. Serve hot....
