Ingredients:


1/2 kg chicken, cut into pieces

7-8 muringakka / drumstick, pieces

1/4 cup shallots, sliced

2 tbsp crushed ginger-garlic

1 tsp turmeric powder

1 1/2-2 tsp coriander powder

1 tsp garam masala

1 tsp fennel powder

3-4 green chillies, slit

1 cup coconut milk

2 sprig curry leaves

2 dry red chillies

1/2 tsp chilli powder

salt to taste

2 tbsp oil


Preparation:


  1. Heat 1 1/2 tbsp oil in a thick bottomed pan and add sliced shallots, crushed ginger-garlic and salt and saute well.
  2. Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, fennel powder and garam masala and saute until the raw smell goes.
  3. Add cleaned chicken pieces and salt and mix well. Add 1/2 cup of water and cook for 10 minutes.
  4. Then add drumstick pieces, slit green chillies, curry leaves and salt and cook covered for 10 minutes till done, stirring in between.
  5. When the gravy becomes thick, add coconut milk and mix well. Adjust the salt and switch off the flame.
  6. Heat 2 tsp oil in a small pan and add dry red chillies and curry leaves .Switch off the flame and add 1/2 tsp chilli powder and mix well.
  7. Pour this tempering over the curry and mix well. Serve hot...
