Chocolate and Vanilla Butter Cake

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cup plain flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
175 gm unsalted butter, softened
1 cup sugar, powdered
4 eggs
1 tsp vanilla essence
1/4 cup + 1 tbsp milk
2 tsp + 2 tbsp cocoa powder
Preparation:
- Preheat the oven to 180 degree celcius. Grease a baking pan with butter / baking spray or line with baking paper.
- Sift plain flour, baking powder and salt together in a bowl and keep it aside.
- In another bowl, add butter and sugar and beat well until creamy and fluffy.
- Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Add vanilla essence and 1/4 cup milk and beat until it has been incorporated.
- Add flour mixture little by little and beat well until combined,
- Divide the batter into three equal parts- in one part add 2 tsp cocoa powder and beat well.
- In another part add 2 tbsp cocoa powder and 1 tbsp milk and beat well.
- In the third part, keep the remaining vanilla batter for the vanilla layer.
- In the prepared baking pan, layer bottom with the darkest batter and then with the lighter batter and top with the vanilla batter.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 40-45 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean.
- Cool for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely... Cut into pieces and serve...
