Ingredients:
1/4 cup coriander leaves / malliyila
1/4 cup roasted gram / pottukadala
1/2 cup grated coconut
5-6 shallots, chopped
2 green chillies
2 garlic cloves
small piece ginger
small gooseberry sized tamarind
1 dry red chilli, broken into pieces
1 sprig curry leaves
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
salt to taste
1 tbsp + 1 tsp oil
Preparation:
- Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan and add shallots, green chillies, garlic and roasted gram and saute for a minute.
- Then add grated coconut, tamarind, ginger, 2-3 curry leaves and salt and saute for another minute.
- Remove from the flame and transfer to a blender and add coriander leaves and grind together to a smooth paste adding enough water.
- Transfer to a serving bowl and adjust the salt and water to get a required consistency.
- Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds and add dry red chilli and curry leaves.
