Crispy Butterflied Chicken Drumsticks with Hot Honey Sauce

Ingredients:


1 kg chicken drumsticks, butterflied

2 tsp chilli powder

1 tsp ginger powder

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

3 tbsp olive oil

salt to taste

1 cup plain flour

1/2 tsp pepper powder

2 eggs, beaten

1 1/2 cup bread crumbs, as required

1-1 1/2 tbsp white sesame seeds


For Hot Honey Sauce:


2 tbsp butter

1 tbsp garlic, finely chopped

2 tbsp tomato sauce

1-2 tbsp hot sauce / sriracha sauce

1 tbsp soy sauce

2-3 tbsp honey

1/2 tsp chilli powder


Preparation:


  1. Add chicken in a large mixing bowl and mix with 2 tsp chilli powder, ginger powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and olive oil till well coated and keep it for marination in the refrigerator for 2-4 hours.
  2. In a plate, add plain flour and season with pepper powder and salt.
  3. Dip each marinated chicken piece in the flour mix, then in beaten eggs and coat in bread crumbs and press well until evenly coated.
  4. Air fry the chicken at 180 degree celcius for 22-25 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden brown and crispy.
  5. To prepare the hot honey sauce, melt butter in a pan and add chopped garlic and saute.
  6. Add tomato sauce, hot sauce, soy sauce, honey and 1/2 tsp chilli powder and mix well and bring to a gentle boil.
  7. Then simmer for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
  8. Add the crispy chicken to the sauce and toss until evenly coated.
  9. Sprinkle white sesame seeds on top and serve hot...
