Ingredients:


1/2 kg chicken, cut into pieces

1 big onion, thinly sliced

1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste

1 1/2 tsp + 1 tsp chilli powder

1 tsp + 1 tsp coriander powder

1/4 tsp + 1/2 tsp turmeric powder

1 tsp + 1 tsp garam masala

3 tbsp + 2 tbsp yogurt

salt to taste

1 tbsp ginger, chopped

1 tbsp garlic, chopped

3 green chillies, slit

1 sprig curry leaves

2 medium tomatoes, chopped

1/2-1 tsp fennel powder

2 tbsp coriander leaves, chopped

oil, as required


Preparation:


  1. In a bowl, add cleaned chicken pieces, ginger-garlic paste, 1 1/2 tsp chilli powder, 1 tsp coriander powder, 1/4 tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp garam masala, 3 tbsp yogurt and salt and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Fry the thinly sliced onions in the oil till golden and keep it aside.
  3. Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan and fry the marinated chicken pieces until cooked and golden brown. Keep it aside.
  4. In the same pan ( add more onion fried oil if required ), add chopped ginger, garlic, green chillies and curry leaves and saute well until fragrant.
  5. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until soft.
  6. Add 1 tsp chilli powder, 1 tsp coriander powder, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp garam masala, fennel powder and salt and mix well and cook covered for 1-2 minutes.
  7. Add the fried onions into this and mix well.
  8. Add 2 tbsp yogurt, mix well and cook for a minute.
  9. Then add the fried chicken and mix well for 1-2 minutes until coated evenly.
  10. Cook on low flame for 7-8 minutes until the masala is well coated with chicken pieces, stirring in between.
  11. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and remove from flame. Serve hot...
