Ingredients:
3 green tomatoes / pacha thakkali
1 small onion, chopped
3-4 green chillies
1/2 cup coriander leaves
1/4 cup mint leaves
3-4 tbsp grated coconut
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp chana dal
1 tsp + 1/4 tsp urad dal
salt to taste
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1 sprig curry leaves
2 dry red chillies
2 tsp + 2 tsp oil
Preparation:
- Wash and chop the green tomatoes and keep it aside.
- Heat 2 tsp oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, chana dal and 1 tsp urad dal and roast till golden brown.
- Add chopped green tomatoes, onion and green chillies and salt and saute for 2-3 minutes.
- Then cook covered till the tomatoes are cooked and soft.
- Now add the coriander leaves and mint leaves and mix well.
- Add grated coconut into this and saute for a minute. .
- Switch off the flame and allow to cool and then grind to a paste adding enough water.
- Heat 2 tsp oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds and add 1/4 tsp urad dal, dry red chillies and curry leaves and fry.
