Ingredients:


3 big green tomatoes / pacha thakkali

1/2 cup grated coconut

1/4 tsp cumin seeds

3 shallots

1 garlic clove

1 onion, chopped

2 green chillies, chopped

2 sprig curry leaves

salt to taste

1 tsp chilli powder

1/4 tsp turmeric powder

3 tsp oil


Preparation:


  1. Wash and chop green tomatoes into medium sized pieces.
  2. In a blender, add the grated coconut, shallots, garlic and cumin seeds and blend together to a coarse paste.
  3. Heat 2 tsp oil in a pan and add chopped onion, green chillies and curry leaves and saute for a minute.
  4. Add the chopped tomatoes and cook for 2 minutes.
  5. Then sprinkle little water and salt and cook covered till the tomatoes become little soft.
  6. Add chilli powder, turmeric powder and the ground paste and mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes till the raw smell goes.
  7. Check the salt and add if needed. Sprinkle some curry leaves and add 1 tsp coconut oil and switch off the flame. Serve with rice...
