Honey Garlic Cauliflower

Ingredients:


1 cauliflower

1/2 cup plain flour

2 tbsp + 2 tsp cornflour

1 tsp + 1 tsp chilli powder

1 tsp + 1 tsp pepper powder

2 tbsp garlic, cloves

1 onion, finely chopped

1 tsp red chilli flakes

2 tsp soy sauce

2 tsp vinegar

3 tbsp tomato sauce

salt to taste

2 tbsp honey

oil, as required

2 tbsp spring onions, chopped


Preparation:


  1. Cut the cauliflower into medium sized florets. Wash and soak them in water for 5 minutes and then drain the water and keep it aside.
  2. In a mixing bowl, add plain flour, 2 tbsp cornflour, 1 tsp chilli powder, 1 tsp pepper powder and salt and mix well.
  3. Add enough water and mix well to a slightly thick batter.
  4. Add the blanched cauliflower to the prepared batter and mix well.
  5. Heat oil in a pan and fry the coated cauliflower florets till golden brown and keep it aside.
  6. Heat 3 tsp oil in another pan and add chopped garlic and onion and saute for 2 minutes.
  7. Add 1 tsp chilli powder, red chilli flakes, 1 tsp pepper powder and salt and mix well.
  8. Add soy sauce, vinegar and tomato sauce and mix well.
  9. Add 1/4 cup of water and mix well and cook for a minute.
  10. Mix 2 tsp cornflour with little water in a bowl and add this cornflour slurry to the pan and mix well and cook for 2 minutes.
  11. Then add the fried cauliflower and mix well for 2-3 minutes till sauce is well coated with cauliflower.
  12. Switch off the flame and add honey and chopped spring onions and mix well.
  13. Transfer to a serving plate and serve..
