Kallummakaya / Mussels Roast

Ingredients:

1/2 kg mussels / kallummakaya

2 tsp ginger-garlic paste

1 tbsp chilli powder

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

1/4 tsp fennel powder

1/2 tsp + 1/2 tsp pepper powder

2 sprig curry leaves

1 onion, sliced

1/2 cup shallots, sliced

3 green chillies, chopped

2 tbsp coriander leaves, chopped

1/4 tsp fenugreek powder

1/4 tsp garam masala

1 tomato, chopped

salt to taste

coconut oil, as required

Preparation:

  1. Clean the mussels and marinate with chilli powder, turmeric powder, ginger- garlic paste, 1/2 tsp pepper powder, fennel powder and salt and keep it aside for 1 hour.
  2. Heat 2 tbsp coconut oil in a pan and add 1 sprig curry leaves and marinated mussels and fry them and keep it aside.
  3. In the same pan, add little more oil and add sliced onion and shallots and fry till golden brown.
  4. Add coriander leaves, 1 sprig curry leaves and chopped green chillies and saute well.
  5. Then reduce the flame to low and add fenugreek powder, 1/2 tsp pepper powder and garam masala and mix well.
  6. Add chopped tomato and saute well till soft and cooked.
  7. Add fried mussels into this and mix well. Adjust the salt and cook at low flame for 5 minutes.
  8. Remove from the flame and serve hot...
