Ingredients:
2 raw banana / plantain / kaya, peeled and chopped
1/2 cup dried prawns / unakka chemmeen
1 big tomato, chopped
1 tsp chilli powder
1/2 tsp coriander powder
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1 cup grated coconut
small lemon sized tamarind
salt to taste
2 shallots
1 sprig curry leaves
a pinch of chilli powder
3 tsp oil
Preparation:
- Soak tamarind in little water, extract its juice and keep it aside.
- Grind grated coconut to a paste adding little water and keep it aside.
- Heat 1 tsp oil in a clay pot / pan and roast the cleaned dried prawns.
- Add chopped plantain and tomato and saute for 1-2 minutes.
- Add chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and salt and mix well.
- Add tamarind water and hot water and cook covered till done.
- Then add ground coconut and mix well and cook for 5 minutes at low flame. Adjust the salt and switch off the flame.
- Heat 2 tsp oil in a pan and add sliced shallots and curry leaves and fry till brown.
- Add a pinch of chilli powder and switch off the flame.
- Add the seasoning over the curry and mix well and serve it with hot rice...
