Ingredients:


1/2 kg fish, cleaned and cut into pieces

2 onions, chopped

1 big tomato, chopped

2-3 green chillies, slit

1 tbsp crushed ginger and garlic

2 sprigs curry leaves

lemon sized tamarind

1 1/2- 2 tbsp kashmiri chilli powder

1 tsp coriander powder

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

few coriander leaves, chopped

1 tsp mustard seeds

1/2 tsp fenugreek seeds

salt

oil


Preparation:


  1. Clean the fish pieces and marinate it with 1/2- 1 tbsp chilli powder, 1/4 tsp turmeric powder and salt.
  2. Soak tamarind in 1 cup water , extract its juice and keep it aside.
  3.  Heat oil in a pan and fry the marinated fish pieces and keep them aside.
  4. Heat oil in another pan or manchatti/ earthern pot and splutter mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds.
  5. Add chopped onions and saute well. Then add green chillies, crushed ginger and garlic, tomato and curry leaves and saute well.
  6. Add 1 tbsp chilli powder, coriander powder and 1/4 tsp turmeric powder mixing with little water and saute for 2 minutes. Add tamarind extract and enough salt and allow to boil.
  7. Now add fried fish pieces and coriander leaves into the pan. When it boils, remove from flame and serve hot...
