Ingredients:

1/2 kg mutton, cleaned

1 tbsp ginger paste

1 tbsp garlic paste

2 big onions, finely chopped

2 tomatoes

2 1/2 tsp kashmiri chilli powder

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

3/4 tsp garam masala

1 sprig curry leaves

1/4 cup coriander leaves, chopped

salt to taste

2 tbsp oil

Preparation:

  1. Cut the mutton into pieces , wash it and drain the water completely and keep it aside. Grind tomatoes into paste and keep it aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pressure cooker and add ginger paste and garlic paste and saute well till raw smell goes.
  3. Add chopped onion and saute well till brown colour. Add curry leaves and mix well.
  4. Then add in the kashmiri chilli powder, turmeric powder, garam masala and salt and saute well at low flame.
  5. Add cleaned mutton into this and saute well until the mutton pieces are well coated with the masala and turns brown.
  6. Now add tomato paste and saute well till oil separates.
  7. Add 1 1/2 cups of water into this and cook covered at medium flame for about 6-7 whistles or till the mutton is cooked well.
  8. Once the pressure releases, open the cooker and add chopped coriander leaves and simmer for 3-4 minutes.
  9. Remove it from the flame and serve hot with pathiri, ghee rice etc...
