Mutton Curry - Kerala Style

Ingredients:
3/4 kg mutton
2 big onions, sliced
1 1/2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
2 green chillies, chopped
1 sprig curry leaves
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1 tbsp coriander powder
1 tbsp chilli powder
1/2 tsp garam masala
1/2 tsp fennel powder
1 big tomato, chopped
1/2 tsp garam masala
1/2 tsp pepper powder
salt to taste
2 tbsp coconut oil
Preparation:
- Heat oil in a pressure cooker and add sliced onions and saute well adding salt.
- Add ginger-garlic paste, green chillies and curry leaves and saute well till raw smell goes.
- Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, chilli powder, garam masala and fennel powder and saute well.
- Add chopped tomato and mix well and cook covered for 3 minutes till soft.
- Add cleaned mutton pieces and mix well for 5 minutes.
- Then add 3/4 cup of water, mix well and pressure cook for 5-6 whistles or till cooked well.
- When the pressure releases, open the cooker and add garam masala and pepper powder and mix well and boil well till the gravy thickens.
- Switch off the flame and serve with pathiri, idiyappam, appam, ghee rice etc…
