Ingredients:
1 cup chana dal / kadalaparippu
1 cup okra / vendakka, finely chopped
1 onion, finely chopped
2 green chillies, finely chopped
1 tbsp ginger, finely chopped
1/2 tsp fennel seeds, crushed
1 sprig curry leaves, chopped
1/2 tsp chilli powder
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1 tbsp rice flour
salt to taste
oil for frying
Preparation:
- Wash and soak dal in water for 3-4 hours.
- Drain the water from soaked dal and grind it into a coarse paste without adding water.
- Transfer this to a bowl and add finely chopped green chillies, ginger, onion, okra, chilli powder, turmeric powder, crushed fennel seeds and salt and mix well.
- Add rice flour and chopped curry leaves into this and mix well with your hand.
- Make small balls out of the mixture and flatten them with your palms.
- Heat oil in a pan and drop the prepared vadas gently to the hot oil and fry them on medium flame till they turn golden brown and crispy.
- Drain on paper towels and serve hot with tea / coffee…
