Ingredients:


3 green tomatoes, chopped

1/4 cup dried prawns / unakka chemmeen

1 small onion, sliced

3 green chillies, slit

1 1/2 tsp + 1/4 tsp chilli powder

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

1 cup grated coconut

4 shallots

1-2 green chillies

2 sprig curry leaves

salt to taste

1 tsp mustard seeds

2 dry red chillies

1 tbsp coconut oil


Preparation:


  1. Clean the dried prawns and wash it and drain in the strainer.
  2. Heat a pan and dry roast it for few minutes till crispy and keep it aside.
  3. Grind grated coconut, 2 shallots, green chilli, few curry leaves and 1 tbsp roasted dried prawns together to a paste and keep it aside.
  4. In a clay pot / pan, add chopped green tomatoes, onion, green chillies, chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt and cook adding enough water.
  5. Then add remaining dried prawns to the cooked tomato and cook till done.
  6. Now add the ground coconut paste and enough water and mix well and cook for 5 minutes at low flame. Adjust the salt and switch off the flame.
  7. Heat oil in a small pan and splutter mustard seeds. Add 2 sliced shallots, dry red chillies and curry leaves and fry for a minute.
  8. Switch off and add 1/4 tsp chilli powder and mix. Pour this over the curry and keep it covered till ready to serve….Mix well and serve hot with rice…
