pachakaya-raw-plantain-pachadi

Ingredients:


1 big raw banana/ raw plantain/ pachakaya

1/4 tsp turmeric powder

3 green chillies

1/2 tsp cumin seeds

1/2 cup grated coconut

1 cup yoghurt

1 1/2 tsp mustard seeds

2 dry red chillies

1 sprig curry leaves

salt to taste

2 tsp oil


Preparation:


  1. Peel and cut the raw plantain into small pieces and soak in water mixed with 1/4 tsp turmeric powder for 5-10 minutes. Then wash well and keep it aside.
  2. Grind grated coconut with cumin seeds, 1 green chilli and 1/2 tsp mustard seeds to a fine paste.
  3. In a pan / clay pot, add sliced plantain, 2 slit green chillies, salt and enough water and cook till soft.
  4. Add the ground coconut paste and yoghurt to the cooked raw plantain and mix well. Adjust the salt and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Heat oil in a pan and splutter 1 tsp mustard seeds. Add dry red chillies and curry leaves and pour this over the pachadi…Mix well and serve with rice…
