Ingredients:


2 cup snake gourd / padavalanga, chopped into small pieces

1/4 cup red gram / vanpayar

3-4 green chillies, slit

1 cup coconut milk

1-2 sprig curry leaves

salt to taste

1 tbsp coconut oil


Preparation:


  1. Soak the red gram in water overnight and pressure cook it for 3-4 whistles adding enough water and salt. Drain the water and keep it aside. 
  2. In a cooker, add the chopped snake gourd, green chillies, salt and enough water and cook for 1 whistle.
  3. Open the cooker and add the cooked red gram and mix well for 1-2 minutes.
  4. Now add the coconut milk and cook on low flame for 5-6 minutes and switch off the flame. Don't allow to boil.
  5. Add curry leaves and drizzle coconut oil. Switch off the flame and let it rest for 10 minutes...Serve with rice...
