Ingredients:


1 small / 2 cup raw papaya, peeled and cut into medium cubes

1/2 tsp chilli powder

1/4 tsp turmeric powder

1 cup grated coconut

1/4 tsp cumin seeds

2 garlic cloves

1-2 green chillies

salt to taste

1 tsp mustard seeds

2 dry red chillies

3 shallots, sliced

1 sprig curry leaves

1 tbsp coconut oil


Preparation:


  1. Peel and chop the raw papaya into medium cubes.
  2. Grind the grated coconut with cumin seeds, garlic and green chilli to a smooth paste adding little water.
  3. In a pressure cooker, add the chopped papaya, turmeric powder, chilli powder, salt and about 1 1/2 cup of water and cook for 2 whistles or until done.
  4. Open the cooker and lightly mash the papaya pieces.
  5. Add the ground coconut paste and mix well.
  6. Add hot water if required and cook for a minutes over low-medium flame until the raw taste is gone
  7. Adjust the salt and switch off the flame.
  8. Heat oil in a small pan and splutter mustard seeds. Add 2-3 sliced shallots and dry red chillies and fry until brown.
  9. Add curry leaves and fry for few seconds and switch off the flame.
  10. Pour this over the curry and keep it covered for 10 minutes. Mix gently and serve with rice...
