Ingredients:

3 pappadams

1/2 cup grated coconut

3 shallots

3-4 dry red chillies

1 sprig curry leaves

1/2 inch piece ginger

small gooseberry sized tamarind

salt to taste

Preparation:

  1. Cut each pappadam into small pieces and fry them in hot oil and keep it aside.
  2. In a blender, add grated coconut, shallots, dry red chillies, curry leaves, ginger, tamarind and salt and grind together to a coarse mixture.
  3. Add the crushed pappadams into this and grind once more.
  4. Then combine everything well and roll to a ball. Serve with rice or kanji…
