Ingredients:
1 1/2 cup rava / semolina
3/4 cup yogurt / curd
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup water
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 green chillies, chopped
2 tbsp coriander leaves, chopped
1 sprig curry leaves, chopped
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp cumin seeds
1/4 tsp urad dal
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
oil, as required
Preparation:
- In a blender, add rava, yogurt, salt and 1 cup of water and grind well to a fine batter. Transfer the batter to a bowl.
- Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds.
- Add urad dal, cumin seeds, chopped onion and green chillies and saute well.
- Add this sautéed mixture and chopped coriander leaves and curry leaves to the batter and mix well.
- Add baking soda and mix well. Adjust the salt.
- Heat oil in a tadka pan / appam pan / kadai and pour 1 ladle of batter in the centre. Do not spread the batter.
- Cook at medium flame till both sides are golden. Flip once or twice if needed.
- Serve hot with chutney..
