Ingredients:
2 raw plantain / raw banana / kaya / pachakaya
50 gm dried prawns / unakka chemmeen
1 1/2 tsp kashmiri chilli powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 cup grated coconut
5-6 shallots
3-4 garlic cloves
2-3 green chillies
a pinch of fenugreek seeds
2 kudampuli / gambooge, soaked in warm water for 10 minutes
2 sprig curry leaves
salt to taste
1 tbsp coconut oil
Preparation:
- Peel and cut the raw plantain into thin slices and put them in a bowl of water.
- Clean the dried prawns, wash it and drain the water. Then dry roast at low-medium flame till its colour changes and crispy. Keep it aside to cool.
- Crush together grated coconut, shallots, green chillies, garlic, 1/4 tsp turmeric powder, fenugreek seeds and few curry leaves and keep it aside.
- In a manchatty/ pan, add the plantain pieces, dried prawns, kashmiri chilli powder, 1/4 tsp turmeric powder, salt and enough water and mix well.
- When it starts to boil, cook covered on medium-low flame .
- Add crushed coconut mixture and mix well and saute well until the raw smell goes and almost all water has dried up.
- Add a few curry leaves and coconut oil and mix well.
- Switch off the flame and keep it covered for 5 minutes. Serve with rice…
