Ingredients:


1 cup urad dal

1 1/2 tsp rice flour

salt to taste

2 green chillies, finely chopped

1 small onion, finely chopped

small piece ginger, finely chopped

3 tbsp coriander leaves, chopped

1 cup red spinach / amaranth leaves / cheera, finely chopped

1/2 tsp pepper powder

oil, for frying


Preparation:


  1. Wash and soak urad dal in enough water for 3-4 hours.
  2. Grind the soaked urad dal adding 3-4 tbsp water to a thick smooth fluffy paste.
  3. Transfer to a large mixing bowl and mix the batter in circular motion till they turn light.
  4. Add rice flour and salt into the batter and mix well.
  5. Then add finely chopped onion, green chillies, ginger, coriander leaves, spinach leaves and pepper powder and mix well.
  6. Heat oil in a pan on medium flame.
  7. Wet your palms with water, take little batter and make a ball. Place it on the palm, flatten it and make a hole in the centre.
  8. Drop this slowly in the hot oil and fry till golden brown. Drain on paper towel to remove excess oil. Serve hot with chutney...
