Ripe Papaya Pachadi

Ingredients:
2 cups ripe papaya, chopped
1 1/4 cup yogurt
3/4 cup grated coconut
1/4 - 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
3-4 green chillies, slit
1/2 tsp mustard seeds, crushed
salt to taste
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
3 dry red chillies
1 sprig curry leaves
1/4 tsp chilli powder
1 tbsp coconut oil
Preparation:
- Peel and deseed the well ripe papaya and chop it into small pieces.
- In a pan, add chopped papaya, green chillies, 1/4 tsp turmeric powder, salt and enough water and cook covered at medium flame.
- Grind together grated coconut, cumin seeds and 1/4 tsp turmeric powder to a smooth paste adding little water.
- When the papaya pieces are fully cooked, mash it well with a ladle.
- Add the ground coconut paste and 1/2 tsp crushed mustard seeds and mix well.
- Cook for few minutes at low flame until the raw smell goes and the coconut mixture gets cook well.
- Reduce the flame to very low and slowly add the beaten yogurt and stir well. Don't allow to boil.
- Adjust the salt and switch off the flame.
- Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds. Add dry red chillies, curry leaves and chilli powder.
- Pour this seasoning into the pachadi and mix well. Serve with rice...
