Ingredients:


2 cups soya chunks

2 tbsp + 1 tbsp kashmiri chilli powder

1/2 tsp + 1/4 tsp 1/4 turmeric powder

1/2 tsp + 1/4 tsp garam masala

1 tbsp + 1/2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste

1 tbsp cornflour

1 tsp lemon juice

2 sprig curry leaves

4-5 dry red chillies

1/4 tsp fennel seeds

8 shallots, sliced

1 onion, thinly sliced

1 tbsp + 1/4 tsp chilli flakes

3 tbsp tomato sauce

salt to taste

oil, as required


Preparation:


  1. Boil enough water in a pan and add soya chunks and boil for 2-3 minutes till soft.
  2. Then drain the water, rinse with cold water and squeeze out the excess water completely and keep it aside in a bowl.
  3. In a bowl, add 2 tbsp kashmiri chilli powder, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, 1/2 tsp garam masala, salt, 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste, cornflour, lemon juice and 2-3 tbsp water and mix well.
  4. Add drained soya into this and mix well till coated.
  5. Heat little oil in a pan and fry the marinated soya and keep it aside.
  6. Heat 2 tbsp oil ( use oil used for frying soya ) in a pan and fry curry leaves and dry red chillies and keep it aside.
  7. In the same oil add fennel seeds and when it splutters, add sliced shallots and saute well.
  8. Add thinly sliced onion and salt and saute well.
  9. Add 1/2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste and curry leaves and saute well till raw smell goes.
  10. Add 1/4 tsp turmeric powder, 1 tbsp kashmiri chilli powder, 1/4 tsp garam masala and 1 tbsp chilli flakes and mix well till raw smell goes.
  11. Add tomato sauce and 4 tbsp water and mix well.
  12. When it starts to boil, add fried soya, 1/4 tsp chilli flakes, fried dry red chillies and curry leaves and mix well till combined.
  13. Adjust the salt and switch off the flame...Serve hot…
  • Adjust the spice level to your taste
